Naran is a town and popular tourist destination in the upper Kaghan Valley in the Mansehra District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is located 119 kilometers (74 mi) from Mansehra city at an altitude of 2,409 meters (7,904 ft). It is located about 65 kilometers (40 mi) away from Babusar Top. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions locally as well as internationally.
Naran Kaghan is famous as a tourist destination, owing to its pleasant weather in peak season every year thousands of tourists rush to explore the valley. It is also the gateway to Gilgit Hunza in Summers by Babusar Pass. Naran Bazaar is very crowded in the summer with hotels and restaurants offering their services. In 2020, the government expects that 5 million tourists will explore the valley.
Its beauty captures a lot of people towards itself and thus it is a famous resort for tourists and trekkers. The weather in Naran is very cold. The ice on the mountain tops never melts, even in the months of June and July there are glaciers, and mountains are covered with snow.
The main items of Naran valley are dry fruits and Handicrafts. One of the handicrafts you should buy are the artistically carved Walnuts and another famous thing is the Namdas, the woolen felt rugs while woolen shawls, embroidered shawls, and shirts are also available. These places have cottage industries running and you can find yourself having excellent bargains. Hand-made articles are displaced in the shops at the main market.
Saiful Malook is a lake which is situated in the middle of mountains, which throughout the year are covered with snow. One of the renowned mountains is Malika Parbat which is placed on the left of the jheel. Saifulmalook is named after a folk tale. It is the story of the prince of Persia who fell in love with a fairy princess at the lake. The impact of the lake's beauty is of such an extent that people believe that fairies come down to the lake at full moon. The color of the water is blue and it is crystal clear.
