Lahore is the capital city of the Pakistani province of Punjab. It is the second largest and most populous city in Pakistan, after Karachi, and the 32nd most populous urban city in the world. The city is located in the north-east part of Punjab province, near the border with India. Lahore is ranked as a world city.

Lahore was called by different names throughout history. To date, there is no conclusive evidence as to when it was founded. Some historians trace the history of the city as far back as 4000 years ago.

The city’s history is a tapestry woven with the threads of the Mughal Empire, British colonial rule, and the birth of an independent Pakistan. Nowhere is this legacy more apparent than within the walls of the majestic Lahore Fort (Shahi Qila), a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This architectural masterpiece, with its stunning Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors), whispers tales of emperors and empires. Adjacent to the fort is the Badshahi Mosque, an icon of Mughal architecture and one of the world's largest mosques, its red sandstone facade dominating the skyline.

Lahore's cultural scene is incredibly vibrant. It is the undisputed cultural and intellectual capital of Pakistan. The city comes alive with festivals like Basant (spring festival) and the National Horse & Cattle Show, showcasing traditional music, dance, and crafts.

The Walled City of Lahore, with its narrow lanes, bustling bazaars, and exquisitely restored havelis (mansions), offers an authentic glimpse into centuries of daily life. Food enthusiasts will find paradise in Lahore; its reputation as Pakistan's culinary capital is well-earned. From the famous "Food Street" near the Fort to countless roadside vendors and high-end restaurants, the cuisine, rich in spices and flavor, is a true highlight.
