In the Haramosh region of the Karakoram Range in Pakistan, Spantik Peak, also known as Golden Peak, is 7030 metres above sea level and forms a part of the Rakaposhi and Haramosh.

Spantik Peak Base Camp is a popular playground for mountaineers attempting their first 7,000-meter peak in the Karakoram. We undertake an 08-day strenuous trek in the heart of Karakorams, approaching the base camp of this beautiful peak on the fourth day of our trek. Very few adventurers visit this part of the Karakorams, so we have the opportunity to experience the romantic wilderness of the Karakorams in its prime form.

A Journey Through Diverse Landscapes

The adventure begins with a thrilling jeep ride from Skardu to the remote village of Arandu, the last settlement before entering the wilderness. From there, the trek winds through a diverse tapestry of landscapes. Trekkers pass through lush green summer settlements and alongside the impressive, rugged terrain of the Chogolungma Glacier. The route offers a mix of moderate hiking and steeper sections, providing moments of respite with easy walking across undulating meadows and challenging segments traversing pure white glacier ice.

The scenery is simply magnificent, with panoramic views of towering, snow-capped peaks and the serene Laila Peak pyramid. The base camp itself is a highlight, perched on a cliff edge adorned with wildflowers, offering 270-degree views of the surrounding mountains and the glacier below – a truly surreal "slice of Switzerland" in the heart of the Karakoram.
